There are so many different RC helicopters available for you to buy on the market. It’s very important that the helicopter that you choose is appropriate for your skill level. I will be focussing mainly on the novice and beginner flyers. There are a number of things that you must be aware of before you purchase a helicopter as a beginner or novice. It’s recommend that you opt for an electric helicopter, because the electric models are quieter than their gas powered counterpart, and they can also be flown indoors. The next thing that you will have to consider is the size of it. If the size of the RC helicopter fuselage is more than 12 inches, then it will be hard for novices to fly it indoors, as more power will be required for it to take off, making it much more difficult to steer. If you are someone who has never flown a RC helicopter or you are still in the process of learning, then you’d be better off starting with a smaller electric helicopter, as these smaller helicopters can be flown in your own living room.

To start with you can purchase something fairly cheap, no more than $30. It should come with a control unit that’s infrared and spare tail rotors. These types of helicopters come with only 2 controls. They are left, right, up and down. If you would like to move forward, then it’s likely you will have to add some weight to the front. However the practice that you get from lifting off and landing should be enough for beginners.

A next step helicopter would be the Megatech House fly unlimited. This helicopter comes with dual rotor fly bar technology, which will allow a novice to successfully fly it even during your learning process. The rotors on these helicopters are powered by two separate motors for each rotor, and 2 servos that control the roll and pitch. The left and right turn is controlled by different motor speeds. This model however, does not require a tail rotor. With this helicopter it’s possible for you to hover, manoeuvre up and down, backwards, forwards, turn right and left and also slide to both your left and right. Once you feel you have mastered this helicopter, you will now be reader to move up to level 2 flyers.
